Sara V (b. 2000) is a Bermudian writer, researcher, and artist based in Amsterdam. Her work takes the form of intimate interventions in writing, video, sound, and space. Beginning with structures that attempt to protect and preserve, she moves between windows, fortresses, gossip, online blogs, and other systems of narration and defence. Her practice often begins with an object, comment, or site, allowing it to become the subject of the work and lead outward. Through cutting, glueing, taping, collecting, and recontextualising, she examines forms of protection that are both necessary and excessive. She refers to this process as “Excess Maintenance”. She has a background in political theory and film production, and spends much of her free time on YouTube and talking with friends.
