First Encounter
First Encounter is situated within an ongoing research into the subconscious and the agency of objects. Drawing from Dora Kalff’s sandplay therapy, the work adopts the sandbox as a protected, symbolic space in which inner images can emerge without being forced into explanation. Meaning is not imposed but allowed to surface through relationships, distances, and tensions between elements. Like Kafka’s Odradek, they occupy an ambiguous position: familiar but unsettling, seemingly insignificant yet resistant to disappearance. They outlive us and our attempts to stabilize their meaning, acting upon the viewer rather than submitting to interpretation.
