Going through II
«There is this smell wafting through the room, sharp but strangely clean, piercing and
oddly nostalgic. It clings to the bones lying on the floor. Liquified bodies. The steel
pipes of a blue diving board - getting populated by concrete and seashells – cold between
your fingers. Taking a deep breath, diving in…
Starting with an anthropological approach of observation and documentation, they partly
recreates harmonized spaces, being particularly interested in swimming pools. Their work
explores the interplay between bodies and their environment.
In her installation Going through - or Armstand with overback II for the exhibition In
between I felt it all, Chevreau allows us to enter into an environment of a swimming pool
that fuses with elements of the seaside:
a clinical space being crept upon and transformed, leaving us to question what kind of life
can emerge in such a fictional space in between.»
