A voice interrupts, says she. 
 
'this is an opening' is an experimental video work, figured as an extension of gervaise alexis savvias' ongoing attempt to trace the lingering spectre of their grandmother, explore the (im)possibilities of blackness, and critique the totalizing regime of linear time. By staging a conversation between their grandmother's aversion to being photographed, fragments of her uncovered manuscripts, and an experimental sonic score produced by Andreas Yakovlev Michaelides, the film explores the non-linearity of time, absence, spectrality, and the mysticism of the chance encounter.
