Beni Conrad

Filmmaker and visual artist, I'm son of a Franco-Brazilian mother and a Dutch father with Surinamese origin. I graduated in film studies at Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris 3 and specialized in direction of photography at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema de Lisboa. Right now I live and work between Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro.


Interested in the practical and codified uses of images in modern society, my work seeks to build a bridge between the imagetic mechanisms of globalization and the poetics of everyday objects. This artistic practice is characterized by the association of various photographic processes with other languages ​​such as drawing, performance and sculpture, but mainly by the collaboration between photography with cinema, book and printmaking.
