Zoia Atkinson (*2001, RO/UK/CH) is an interdisciplinary artist currently based in Amsterdam. Through performance, sound, installation and video, she creates cinematic environments that subtly distort and shift the familiar. He approaches “straying” as a method and productive condition: to resist normative coherence, fixed identity and linear modes of understanding, through deviation, myth making and continual reconfiguration. Central to the work is Devlin, an adjacent version of Zoia performed across different situations. Neither fictional persona nor stable character, Devlin functions as an operative figure through which alternative modes of being, narrating and relating can be embodied. Drawing from queer temporality and anti-extractive forms of spectatorship, the work privileges mutation and uncertainty over resolution or fixed meaning.
