To guide your visit to this year’s graduation show, we have curated four routes that highlight common themes and research interests spanning the seven departments.
Route One: Tales of Sound Making, Old and New
Song, sound, and sonic experimentation play a central role in the work of many graduates this year. The artworks included in this category explore the limits of sonic perception through performance, voice, and immersive soundscapes. For some, sound-making becomes a force for spiritual and collective transformation; for others, it offers a chance to unpack and reappropriate histories and legacies of musical tradition, drawing attention to the ways sound is employed by hegemonic powers whilst other voices are made silent. These works display new and ancient methods of preservation, re-appropriation, and collectivity through sound and music.
All the works in this category are performance-based and thus do not follow a typical route. Instead, we have created a timetable featuring artists whose work explores the above themes:

Route Two: Narratives as Rivers: Between Flood and Draught
What makes a story? How do we tell tales that are forgotten, unfinished, or fragmented? In the works offered on this route, narrative is never linear – it’s exploded, scattering in multiple directions to represent the complex, contradictory and often incoherent ways our worlds are experienced. Age-old traditions of storytelling are deconstructed and repurposed to make space for new and experimental ways of seeing and sharing, from puppet theatres and detective plots to hybrid memoirs, reimagined videogames, and contemporary forms of knowledge exchange.

Route Three: Territorial Hegemonies: Songs of the Swan and Nightingale
The works along this route draw attention to the invisible infrastructures that underpin every aspect of modern life – from borders and nation states to AI and big tech infrastructures – and the tensions that are born of these systems of dominance and control. Looking ahead, many of these artists turn to fantasy, fiction, and dreams to regain their footing in these fraught political and ecological terrains. But they are also geared toward action, proposing direct interventions and radically reimagined ways of living and convening with the land, with each other, and with our more-than-human neighbours.

Route Four: Gestures of Care, Seeds of Hope
At the heart of these works is a proposition for solidarity in the face of societal and planetary collapse. Here, art and artistic practice converges with activism, social justice movements, and direct action, drawing from both inherited and applied knowledges to put forward poetic strategies for resistance and survival. Emboldened by the conditions of the present, these works are embodied, spatial, and relational. They adopt interactive and immersive elements to create space for collective care, engagement, and transformation.
