Biography
Boris Deben (Brussels, BE) is a multidisciplinary artist working across kinetic sculpture, drawing, installation and animation. Using automatic drawing as basis, he creates immersive imaginaries, presenting a multifaceted queer perspective on self-reflection and human-object relations. With confrontational yet playful energy, the viewer is caught in a world where new social logics apply, “normal” human behavior and technological “advancement” is challenged.
FORBIDDEN FRUITS TASTE BETTER
FORBIDDEN FRUITS TASTE BETTER is a queer altar to the impossible, a regenerating origin story where identity and belief are perpetually rewritten. Reappropriating religious storytelling, it rephrases the exclusionary biblical origin myth into an inclusive space where the deeply personal and universally dissonant cohabitate. Large sculpted hands reach out, seducing viewers inward, while a glowing star bench offers a place to linger. The installation functions as one breathing entity—a sensory theatre of bodies, lights, and unspoken codes—inviting the viewer into a choreography between moving image and physical matter, where beginnings are not fixed, but fluid and open to transformation.
