Stretch
As part of the Spring Workshop of Studio for Immediate Spaces department, we worked in El Ejido, Almería, in collaboration with Foil&Soil studio (https://foilandsoil.com).
The project explored the idea of an “oasis” within a hostile climate—El Ejido being a region of extreme heat—by reusing plastic waste from local greenhouses. This area, the largest concentration of greenhouses in Europe, relies on lightweight plastic coverings stretched over metal frames, which generate significant waste as the material must be regularly replaced.
Working as a group, we transformed this waste into a bench installed in a city park—offering residents a shaded place to pause and rest.
